About IRMADU

A South African Biewer Terrier breeding programme built on decades of dedication, careful decisions and a genuine love for the breed — never on volume or convenience.

Our Beginning

Decades of dedication, woven into a breeding programme.

IRMADU began with a deep affection for the Biewer Terrier — a small, elegant companion breed with a heart far bigger than its size. Over the years, that affection has grown into a considered breeding programme focused on health, temperament and the right family match.

Every litter at IRMADU is planned with intention. Every puppy is raised in our home, handled daily, and matched to a family we believe is the right fit. We are not a puppy business — we are a breeding programme with a lifelong commitment to the families we place puppies with.

Our approach is selective rather than prolific. We choose to breed fewer litters, so each puppy receives the attention, socialisation and care that produces a confident, well-balanced companion. This is the only way we know how to do right by the breed, the dogs, and the families who trust us.

Our Journey

How the IRMADU programme has grown

From a single Biewer Terrier to a deliberate, considered breeding programme — these are the milestones that have shaped IRMADU.

  1. 2010

The beginning — our first Biewer Terrier

IRMADU started with a single Biewer Terrier who quietly changed everything. What began as admiration for the breed became a desire to understand it deeply — temperament, structure, health and history.

  2. 2014

A deeper commitment — registered breeding

After years of learning and careful preparation, IRMADU became a registered breeding programme. We committed ourselves to the standards of the breed and the responsibility that comes with each litter.

  3. 2018

Refining our programme — selective pairings

We narrowed our focus to fewer, deliberate pairings — choosing each dog for temperament, health and breed type. Quality over quantity became the principle behind every decision.

  4. 2021

    Home-raised socialisation focus

We formalised a structured early-socialisation programme inside our home, giving every puppy gentle, consistent exposure to the sounds and rhythms of family life from the very first weeks.

  5. 2024

    Lifelong family community

Today IRMADU is more than a breeding programme — it is a community of families who keep in touch long after their puppy goes home. Updates, questions and visits are always welcome, for the life of the dog.

Our Principles

The values that guide every decision

Seven principles shape how we breed, raise and place every IRMADU Biewer Terrier. They are not marketing — they are the standards we hold ourselves to.

Selective breeding

Every pairing is planned with intention, focused on temperament, health and breed type.

We consider compatibility, bloodline and the wellbeing of the breed before any mating. We never breed for quantity, and we will not proceed with a pairing we are not fully confident in.

Loving home environment

Our dogs and puppies live with us, as part of the family, in a calm and caring home.

Puppies are born and raised inside our home, surrounded by household sounds, daily routines and gentle handling. This is where confident, well-adjusted dogs begin.

Health-conscious approach

Routine veterinary care, appropriate screening and transparent health records.

Our dogs follow a structured health programme with our veterinarian. Each puppy is health-checked before going home, and records are shared openly with families.

Puppy socialisation

Gentle, structured exposure to people, sounds and experiences during formative weeks.

We follow a deliberate early-socialisation routine that helps puppies develop into calm, curious and adaptable companions ready for family life.

Temperament first

We raise dogs that are confident, affectionate and well-balanced — not reactive.

Temperament is the foundation of everything we do. It is shaped by genetics, by the mother, and by the early environment we provide from day one.

Family matching

Each puppy is placed with the family we believe is the right fit — not first-come.

We take time to understand your home, lifestyle and what you are hoping for in a companion, then recommend a puppy whose temperament matches your world.

Long-term support

We stay in touch for the life of the dog — questions, updates and visits welcome.

An IRMADU puppy is the beginning of a relationship, not a transaction. We remain available to our families for guidance, advice and support for as long as the dog lives.

We do not raise puppies to sell them. We raise dogs we believe in, and we place them with families we trust — for the life of every Biewer Terrier that carries the IRMADU name.
